Hi, I am Yuki. I am a neurodivergent & queer counsellor who is committed to providing a safe & nonjudgmental (shame-free) space for all genders, identities, neurotypes, and bodies. I collaborate with clients to explore their unique inner experiences being identified as neurodivergent; LGBTQIA+; CALD and more. I work from a non-pathologising stance, meaning that I will not see clients solely as their labels and/or diagnoses, rather, each person is their own unique being and we co-design strategies that work for the particular individual/situation.
My special interests are working with late/adult-diagnosed female neurodivergent individuals, people who'd like support in navigating the mental health system, people who feel like an outsider or lack a sense of belonging, people who feel marginalised due to their identity (identities), and people who struggle with complex mental health needs.
简介
The term Neurodiversity was coined by Judy Singer, an Australian sociologist in 1998, referring to all/limitless forms of neurological variations. Judy strongly advocated for neurodivergent individuals to be perceived as different but NOT defective.
Thanks to Judy and many active advocates just like her, The NeuroDiversity Movement continued to made significant strides in shifting societal perceptions of neurological differences. From its origins in the autism community to its broader embrace of all neurodivergent individuals, the movement has empowered millions and promoted more inclusive policies and practices.
In parallel with The NeuroDiversity Movement, NeuroDiversity-Affirming Practice emerged as a formalised approach in the 2010s and had since continued to gain recognition.
Yet we still have a long way ahead of us, as there are still many people in our community continue to experience exclusion, marginalisation, discrimination, mistreatments, well... the list goes on.
At CHC*, we are wholeheartedly committed to support and advocate for neurodivergent people as we are proudly led by ND community members. We truly hornour the lived experiences of all diversities.
ND*VERSE is our special project which offers accurate and updated information on neurodivergent experiences, tools and strategies for neurodivergent individuals in various settings in life, as well as a safe space for connections among our community members.
