FAQs

The FAQs page will keep growing as we go.

There is no "stupid" question

Does COLLAB HUB COUNSELLING (CHC)* accept referrals from a General Practitioner (GP) or Mental Health Treatment Plans (MHTP) and offer Medicare rebates?

Currently, services provided by counsellors are not included in Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and therefore a GPMHTP is not required for seeing a counsellor. This might seem like a disadvantage, however, a client can book a counsellor anytime based on their needs and preferences without needing to see a GP first, and without limitations to the range of therapeutic modalities/approaches recognised within Medicare coverage. Some client might also choose a counsellor to avoid leaving a record in Medicare claim history or in other records. Usually, counsellors charge a fee that falls within the range of common gap fee to see psychologists or mental health social workers ($90-$150).
